Then and Now: How Workspace Design Has Changed

We know that change is inevitable. However, evolution is a choice. If we travelled in time 20 years behind, an office would look like this: a team of workers sitting at their desks, facing giant computers. But this image has seen a considerable transformation when it comes to design. Let’s look at what has changed in the past years.

Desks are fundamental to any office space and its environment, and also the key players in enhancing team spirit, productivity, and efficiency, which go beyond the basic functional needs of the desk. And so, it has rightfully been a part of the evolution in workspace design as well.

It’s no secret that office layouts also affect employee performance. So, with the correct state of mind, it becomes easier to focus on work. A good office would also include a quiet, relaxed environment, which requires modification of the office structure.

The office project Numi by Urban Zen consists of varied work settings, from collaborative to individual workspaces. Numi is what you would describe as a wholesome working space, complete with both sophistication and fun. The furniture under this project replicates a biophilic design, making for a less formal and more relaxing environment.

Next up in the workspace evolution chart is the Helix chair designed by Featherlite. This chair has a slim silhouette and a contoured back frame, providing good support with an adjustable lumbar pad for the perfect ergonomic posture. This new design and intuitive controls, as well as the mechanism, have set a new benchmark for a task chair.

Finally, over the last decade, co-working spaces have quickly emerged as the most popular workspace choice due to many reasons such as economic and practical benefits, especially for startups and smaller companies. They also have social and collaborative advantages (compared to working at home or your nearest coffee shop) for freelancers. DLF Cyber Hub, Gurgaon, houses a plethora of co-working spaces. One that stands out among them is Innov8 by Chromed Design Studio, which has impeccable interiors that add to the relaxed environment of a collaborative space.
